August 2004 Calls


2004-041 - August 04, 2004 - I-78 Westbound Mile Marker 75, Williams Township - Dispatched with Station 28 for a propane truck fire. 2811 located the vehicle just prior to the exit 75 offramp and found it was an extinguished brake fire. 2812, 2813 and 2843 were staged on the Morgan Hill Road overpass and 2311 with a crew of 5, was arriving at the Welcome Center when all units were cancelled by 2811.

2004-042 - August 05, 2004 - Northampton County S.P.C.A. on Tumble Creek Road, Williams Township - Dispatched with Station 28 for an Automatic Fire Alarm. All units were cancelled by Northampton County Radio when they were advised by the alarm company that proper coding was received from premise reporting a false activation.

2004-043 - August 07, 2004 - Northampton County S.P.C.A. on Tumble Creek Road, Williams Township - Dispatched with Station 28 for an Automatic Fire Alarm. 28 Command held us at our station and then cancelled all units upon his arrival due to false activation.

2004-044 - August 09, 2004 - 360 Spring Valley Road, Williams Township - Dispatched with Station 28 for an Automatic Fire Alarm. 2311 was just responding with a crew of 4 when all units were cancelled by 28 Command who found burnt food caused the activation.

2004-045 - August 11, 2004 - Williams Township Elementary School, Morgan Hill Road, Williams Township - Dispatched with Station 28 for an Automatic Fire Alarm. All units were cancelled by 2891 upon his arrival reporting a system malfunction.

2004-046 - August 11, 2004 - 701B Palmer Street - Dispatched for an E.M.S. Assist with Suburban E.M.S. 2311 responded with a crew of 2 and assisted 2785 & 2786 at the scene of a cardiac arrest and provided a driver to the hospital.

2004-047 - August 17, 2004 - 145 Spring Street - Dispatched for a possible structure fire. Update from Northampton County Radio advised that smoke was coming from a 2nd floor bedroom where an unattended candle was burning. 2311 responded with a crew of 4 and on arrival found a 2 1/2 story wood frame single family dwelling with noting showing. Police reported that it was the rear bedroom on the second floor. 2711 was ordered to stage at the hydrant on the northeast corner of Spring Street & Ridge Street. Crew was ordered to stage at the front of 2721 which was staged in front of the fire building. 2 firefighters entered and found a smoke condition but no fire. Combined crew from 2711 & 2721 entered with thermal imagers and found nothing out of the ordinary. It was discovered that an unattended candle burnt down and began smoking. 2721 provided electric PPV and 27 units were ordered to take up when the smoke was cleared. EMS 2781 stood by. Building was turned over to the Borough Code Enforcement Officer.

2004-048 - August 21, 2004 - 207 Spring Street - Dispatched for a possible dwelling fire. Update from Northampton County Radio advised that there was a lightning strike to the residence. 2351 arrived first with 2311 and a crew of 4 shortly behind. Investigation found that lightning struck the roof area by a flu pipe and started a small fire inside the dwelling. Occupant extinguished the fire prior to our arrival. 2311 laddered the residence with the 35' ladder and examined the area and a tarp was put up to cover the exposed area from the weather. Also, the lightning strike blew a coupling off the water main before the main water valve, and upon 2312's arrival the flow of water was stopped.

2004-049 - August 27, 2004 - I-78 Westbound Mile Marker 75, Williams Township - Dispatched with Station 28 for a vehicle accident with injuries, possible entrappment. Update from Northampton County Radio was a vehicle rollover into the back of a tractor trailer. Accident was found at mile 74. 2841 with 2856 as 28 command arrived on location and reported no entrappment and units were ordered to stage off the highway. 2312 responded with a crew of 6 and staged at the westbound entrance ramp before being cancelled by 2856.

2004-050 - August 27, 2004 - I-78 Westbound Mile Marker 78, Williams Township - Dispatched with Station 28 for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries or entrappment. Update from Northampton County Radio was a chain reaction accident involving 5 vehicles. 2312 was ready to respond with a crew of 6 when an update from PSP reported no entrappment and 1 minor injury and 28 Command had us hold at station and cancelled us.

2004-051 - August 28, 2004 - 73 Main Street - Dispatched for an automatic fire alarm. Update from Northampton County Radio advised that the alarm was possibly activated due to lightning and had already been reset, and requested an officer to investigate. 2351 arrived and 2311 responded with a crew of 4. It was discovered that a pull station inside the front door had been pulled. There was no problem and all units cleared.
